Blanket finished- YES!

before I forget- does anyone have any fabric with map imagery on it that you’d like to trade or sell me? I’m looking for something map-like but not too terribly specific. I was looking at hankies and tea towels on ebay, with state maps, but it really wasn’t mappy enough.

And my blanket is done!

It has a little fringe, all the ends that were in the middle of the rows are sewn in, I washed it and now it is ready for keeping us cozy. It has started already-

I just couldn’t help myself when I was photographing the blanket.

It took me 5 1/2 weeks to knit. I only used yarn that I already had. It weighs 1 lb and 10 oz. It is approximately 4 ft x 4 ft. It was knit with worsted weight wool on size 10 1/2 needles which made a loose and drapey fabric. Here is a photo on Flickr that shows the blanket spread out.

  1. I have some map-like fabric, sort of a mountain and cactus type map, that I’m happy to send along. I have a bit of another one, that I used on my camel, but I really only have a bit left.

  2. Wish I had some to give you. But in fact I’ve been wishing I had some myself, and have been thinking about ways to make some.

Lovely blanket. 5 1/2 weeks is pretty quick. My last one took me 2 years.

  3. It’s great. I can’t believe you had all that yarn, that it looks so great together. It’s one of the more cohesive stripies around. Beautiful

  4. I love that blanket! I think I’ll try something like that with all that yarn I have in every room. Since they seem to have cancelled Global Warming (at least in my neck of the woods) it will come in handy.

Love the photo, but are those two married? Don’t want to have to give up your G rating, do you?

    Stayworm!

  6. Congratulations on a blanket well knit! Think of all that orphan yarn put to good, cozy use. Fringe is good. Those dolls are quite the self-satisfied pair!

  7. Hi Mimi! I’m catching up with you. You’ve been so busy! I love the little girls and I want to thank you for sharing the inside button joint- can’t wait to try it. Also, the blanket is great, but the pair sharing it are even more great! I do love Mimi dolls! One more thing, you could always try printing your own map fabric.
