hey look, a merman!

I’ve tried something new- a twist on my man pattern. I’ve been thinking about it for a long while now and finally got to figuring out the tweaks and sewing him up.

It is fun to go through my supplies- which toile would work for a sea creature? Which patterns and colors would make a good tail? And sea hair, what does that look like? What about trims?

I like how the rick rack works but I found a lot of other trims that I will experiment with too.

I am excited at all the possibilities. That is what keeps me interested and making.

I thought that skeletons on a boat, pirate skeletons, worked well for the underwater theme.

  1. Love it! It’s so much fun to see how your patterns evolve and the material choices you make! So cool!

  2. Found you through the We Make Dolls! book. That Tattooed Man has got to be the cleverest use of fabric I’ve ever seen. I love this Merman, and his tattoos! I need to keep my eye out for toiles!
