He&#8217;d lived a good long life. He was 96 years old and we were so lucky that even in mid-July, at a family wedding, he was able to enjoy meeting his first great-grandson. I am beginning to understand that there is a lot of processing to do when a parent dies, even when that parent has lived so long and it was the right time.<\/p>\n<p>This photo of him is dated April 27, 1916-<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/mimikirchner.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/08\/dad1916.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-4521\" title=\"dad1916\" src=\"https:\/\/mimikirchner.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/08\/dad1916.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"450\" height=\"742\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>There aren&#8217;t too many family photos with him because he, of course, was usually behind the camera.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/mimikirchner.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/08\/main-31.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-4525\" title=\"main-3\" src=\"https:\/\/mimikirchner.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/08\/main-31.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"448\" height=\"299\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I have a lot of good memories and photos of him with the grandkids.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/mimikirchner.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/08\/main-5.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-4523\" title=\"main-5\" src=\"https:\/\/mimikirchner.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/08\/main-5.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"448\" height=\"309\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>And here he is, just a few weeks ago. (July 16. 2011). I&#8217;m glad we were able to have a happy day so recently.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/mimikirchner.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/08\/dad2011.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-4524\" title=\"dad2011\" src=\"https:\/\/mimikirchner.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/08\/dad2011.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"481\" height=\"321\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I suspect that posting will be spotty for a bit. I was down in Connecticut for several days already, back for a few and then away again later this week.
