I scored a great selection of toile scraps at a swap I did with some fellow <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/bostonhandmade.blogspot.com\/\">Boston Etsy<\/a> people.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"93man.jpg\" id=\"image1084\" src=\"https:\/\/mimikirchner.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2007\/09\/93man.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p>note to self- check to see if decorator fabric has been <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Scotchgard\">Scotchgard<\/a>ed, before using on a project that includes dyeing\/painting the finished piece.  hmph.<\/p>\n<p>Maybe you can&#8217;t tell from the photo, but the color went on unevenly and worse, the fabric looked scabby after the paint dried.  Yuck.  Since I knew I wasn&#8217;t satisfied with it, I thought I might as well see what I could do to make it better.<\/p>\n<p>First, I put him through a gentle cycle in the washing machine.  That made the texture better and the blotchiness worse.  So, I stuck him in a bucket of dye for a soak&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"93dyebath.jpg\" id=\"image1085\" src=\"https:\/\/mimikirchner.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2007\/09\/93dyebath.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p>then, another trip through the wash, and out to dry-<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"93drying.jpg\" id=\"image1086\" src=\"https:\/\/mimikirchner.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2007\/09\/93drying.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p>He is still as blotchy as ever, and somewhat misshapened.  Not out of shape- I mean he is clearly in great shape!  His head is lumpy as you can see.<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"93back.jpg\" id=\"image1087\" src=\"https:\/\/mimikirchner.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2007\/09\/93back.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m not quite sure where I will go next with him, but I have now dyed a selection of fabrics to try again with.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"93fabrics.jpg\" id=\"image1088\" src=\"https:\/\/mimikirchner.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2007\/09\/93fabrics.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p>and another thing&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>Fresh peaches are one of my all time favorite seasonal treats-<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"93pie1.jpg\" id=\"image1083\" src=\"https:\/\/mimikirchner.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2007\/09\/93pie1.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"93pie2.jpg\" id=\"image1082\" src=\"https:\/\/mimikirchner.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2007\/09\/93pie2.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p>well, and then we ate it!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>other times, not so much.
