{"id":755,"date":"2007-11-24T14:57:10","date_gmt":"2007-11-24T19:57:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mimikirchner.com\/blog\/archives\/2007\/11\/love-of-a-bean\/"},"modified":"2007-11-24T14:57:10","modified_gmt":"2007-11-24T19:57:10","slug":"love-of-a-bean","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mimikirchner.com\/blog\/archives\/2007\/11\/love-of-a-bean\/","title":{"rendered":"love of a bean"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I&#8217;m back from Chicago.\u00c2\u00a0 Despite a bad cold, I had a wonderful and mostly relaxing time- ie, more family time then attractions.\u00c2\u00a0 I will go to all those museums next time!<br \/>\nI love <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.millenniumpark.org\/artandarchitecture\/cloud_gate.html\">this sculpture<\/a>&#8211;<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"1124bean5.jpg\" id=\"image1255\" src=\"https:\/\/mimikirchner.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2007\/11\/1124bean5.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Everybody, and there are crowds, is having fun as they admire and interact with this art.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"1124bean2.jpg\" id=\"image1252\" src=\"https:\/\/mimikirchner.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2007\/11\/1124bean2.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p>It is inspiration for anyone with a camera.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"1124bean3.jpg\" id=\"image1253\" src=\"https:\/\/mimikirchner.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2007\/11\/1124bean3.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p>No one can resist a self-portrait.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"1124bean4.jpg\" id=\"image1254\" src=\"https:\/\/mimikirchner.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2007\/11\/1124bean4.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p>This is a view looking up from underneath-<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"1124bean6.jpg\" id=\"image1256\" src=\"https:\/\/mimikirchner.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2007\/11\/1124bean6.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p>While we were there, 2 construction workers were also looking at it.\u00c2\u00a0 They proudly told us that they had worked on the assembly and pointed out where the seam lines were.<\/p>\n<p>While in Chicago, we toured the <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.saic.edu\/\">School of the Art Institute of Chicago<\/a>.\u00c2\u00a0 I was blown away by the facilities and the size of the school. The huge studio for fabric printing made me want to go back to art school.\u00c2\u00a0 Our guide talked about the importance of writing for an art student.\u00c2\u00a0 The students need to be able to write proposals to galleries for shows because all art is now conceptual art&#8230; huh?!\u00c2\u00a0 Yeah, right.\u00c2\u00a0 What a very limited definition of art&#8230; it made me sad and also reminded me of the down side of art school education.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I&#8217;m back from Chicago.\u00c2\u00a0 Despite a bad cold, I had a wonderful and mostly relaxing time- ie, more family time then attractions.\u00c2\u00a0 I will go to all those museums next time!
