and a little bit of that.
This happens to me all the time. I finished up the fish project, went to NYC, had my class and then … well I am completely scattered. I’ve got a group of tiny worlds started-
and I’ve been wanting to dye a pile of toile fabric- I’d been in the middle of that project back at the beginning of February when I veered off to the fish. And the pile of fabric, the pots, the dye, have all been sitting on the kitchen counter for the month. So, I did that at the beginning of the week-
Okay, and then there are the girl dolls that have been haunting me since last summer. They were cut out in August, put in a bin and have been sitting there, waiting for me. I really think I need to make them before anything else. Really, yes, haunting me. There are 4. I sewed one together last night.
And lastly, there are the partially finished projects that always seem to get left behind when I move on to the next thing- one fish, one tattooed man-
It will sort itself out as it always does. Things don’t progress in a nice straight line- just wanted to make sure you know it is not just you.
* Fish Sightings! * Here and Here! See- nobody can make just one.
Oh that IS good to know that it’s not just me!
Thanks to http://nurseknits.blogspot.com/2010/02/i-blame-mimi.html for relating this little story about the fish she made from Mimi’s pattern ( http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=40972469&ref=em ), “Son 2 gave one to his play date friend today. So amusing to watch her pick- looking very serious and careful. Finally, she said she picked the softest, cuddliest one, ‘because they are all so beautiful.'” How unspeakably cute – and TRUE! – is that?
One thing I love about reading craft blogs are the many testimonies to unfinished projects! I’m not in your league of artisanship but my husband teases me continually about my unfinished ‘stuff.’
I have completely missed the fish thing – I’m off to have a catch up! So much inspiring creativity here as ever! t.xx
GROOOOAAAANNN. And here I thought it was just me with bits of flotsam and jetsam here and there — well, at least I am in (VERY) good company. (The legs on the table had me snorting CocaCola through my nose.)
Take care.
You struck a chord with me. I have two rooms in the house devoted to felting, toy making etc and have just spent the weekend tidying them up. Amazing how many unfinished projects I found, not to mention piles and piles of felt, fleece, buttons, you name it. I can never find something, so I buy more and then lose that. I think I have enough to last a lifetime :)
We just moved and I actually packed an entire box of unfinished projects.
And I know I can’t be the only one with, “Projects I bought everything for and meant to start but never did.”
Thanks for the reminder (which reminds me….)
I have so many unfinished ideas in my tiny studio it is hard to walk in there. Maybe this is talking point for the meetup?
I LOVE the schools of fishies. love love love.
I don’t think much is linear, it’s really mor zigzag isn’t it? It’s nice to know you work this way too.
