More mail that I got as a result of my fabric packages-
an amazing envelope- I admired it for a while before I could bring myself to open it!

inside- a wonderful collage-

from Hanna at Il Bloggo. I am so tickled by this art about me!

I am making progress on this doll. I have decided that yes, it is a boy. I went to the library and got several books of Chinese folktales to see if I can find a name I like. I will have to work on the base and do a few more fiddly details before he is declared finished.
Here is the bag I made him-

I am also working on this doll’s clothes. It is really helpful to be able to go back and forth between projects.

I’ve gotten some very sweet thank-you’s from the packages of fabric I mailed out. This heart is from Emily at E.D.G.E. Gallery. So much fun getting surprises in the mail!

Some of my favorite garden things…
Poppies!

Allium-

And, my computer is back to work- hurray! After it was returned from Apple, it was so slow, I couldn’t upload anything… that meant no blogs, no ebay, no photos, I could hardly read my mail – ahhh! Now I have new, super, stronger, better, fatter memory and we’re back in business!

This flower bloomed yesterday! Wow!
Check out all the links at Spirit Dancing about an event to celebrate the centenary of Jules Vernes death. Giant Dolls, oops, I mean puppets! I spent way too much time looking at all the pictures.
Go see Howl’s Moving Castle.

This is the doll I’m almost finished with.
These are my stumbling blocks.
I showed it to a friend who started referring to it as he… I had never thought of the doll as a he, and it’s got me all confused. I’ve got to choose a name, already a problem because of the ethnic look of this kid, but now I don’t even know if I should go masculine, feminine or gender nuetral!
I’ve got to figure out a base/stand for it. I’m thinking about a hat. I’m not happy with the hair yet.

Getting ready for my gourd head doll workshop on July 15 and 16.

I want the gourds clean and ready to paint. It is a big job!

Here are some of them cleaned, some of them not quite finished yet.

I decided to try spray gesso. It is really great, although a lot more expensive to use. Here is my very low tech spray booth. “Abraham Darby” rose blooming in the background.
