for a swap. I need to send out 4. This was probably the hardest swap I’ve done. I struggled to find a way to relate to the subject. I looked at google images to get inspiration. I ended up thinking about it in terms of the end of the natural year… as in the garden, autumn.
In the end, I am happy with how they turned out- especially this last one. The actual cards took me a lot longer then I expected/hoped. All the embroidery is labor intensive and my fingers are like pin cushions now. I’ve got to get back on track to make things for the sales I’m doing.
I like the crow and the leaves one best…of course, I’m going to have to make one too. Wow!!
oh wowie, those are wonderful. i like the one with the oak leaves and warbly eyes… but only fractionally better than the others…
They are all adorable!
The last one does seem to have a little of everything, but I really like the symmetry of, and vineing, on the green one. But they all really capture that Mexican mystique that Kahlo spoke of. Just beautiful.
These are gorgeous!!
These are amazing… just amazing!!!! It’s great that you have this visual record of these and your other “postcards.” You take really professional looking photographs of them!
Love the postcards and the dolls!,what wonderful colour combinations you have used for them too!
They turned out great! I like your blog and dolls and I’m going to link back here.
I posted about my doll technique today.
I must say dead postcards don’t particularly appeal to me either but your’s are terrific. They seem to be saying that they lead a very colourful life. Love them all.
Only you, Mimi, could make skulls look so beautiful! They look so comfortable surrounded by colorful flowers and greenery. An odd topic, but you didn’t allow them to come across as macabre. Beautiful, beautiful work. And, by the way, I am LOVING my pincushion that you sent me. Thank you!
I love the jauntiness of the flower arrangements in contast to the bleak expressions on the skulls.
I love the one with the crow. The flowers on the top two are really nicely done.
oh, I’m glad I hopped over here to see them close-up! If you struggled, it surely doesn’t show. The details with the stitching are amazing.
Hi Mimi, your skulls are GORGEOUS! I love them! Love, Sandra
