In my Mom’s later sewing years, the 1980’s and 90’s, she used a lot of beige and brown. When I make the brown owls, many of the fabrics are from her scraps and/or stash. I love thinking about the beautiful clothes she’d made from them.
Pretty much everything on this one is directly from Mom’s attic.
This one is a mix of newer and older- wovens from Mom, knit (wings and cap) is a reclaimed sweater.
Oh I love these. I like owls anyway, and the fabrics reminds me of clothes my mother made – in the 80s. :D She made skirts and waistcoaty things for herself and for me, in different kind of checkered fabric. Only ours was in shades of grey, not in browns. Lighter and darker grey, with a pink stripe in the the check pattern. I loved it. :)

love the one with the giant brown squares on beige. I also love the frayed look around the face. as usual, these are awesome. even better that you can think of your mum while making something she touched. so nice.
