and a bunny

I had a hard time staying on task while I worked on the kitty pattern. One distraction was that voice telling me- Hey! If you just change one thing, you could go in some completely different direction! Hey! Wouldn’t that be much more fun! Hey! LISTEN TO ME!

Usually I quiet that voice by listening to audiobooks- which somehow manage to busy up that brain chatter and I can focus on what I am doing. But, I couldn’t work on the pattern and listen to audiobooks…

I had to make a drawing or even a pattern and tell myself- I will get to that when the pattern is finished. Well, the kitty pattern is with some testers and now I can consider that pile of ideas. Yesterday I sewed up this bunny. I love him. He seems to be a no clothes bunny. No clothes I tried made him look better then no clothes at all- if that makes any sense.

The tail has a white underside- and the sweater I cut it from was 50% rabbit hair- how could I resist!

I am trying to finish up some random unfinished dolls that have been waiting for a while. It’s that time of year. It will mean that I’ll be posting an odd mix of things for a little bit.

  1. Oh, your rabbit is fantastic! I love that the underside of his tail made out of a rabbit-hair sweater, that’s such a super detail.

  2. I simply cannot envision a more perfect expression for a bunny than this one. I think it is actually why he doesn’t need (or want) clothes.

  3. Mimi, I adore your work! totally in love with the kitties and bunny! thank you for sharing your work!

  4. mimi–
he is adorable!! i love his little nose and tail.
    how about a belly button??
although he is awfully cute naked!
can’t wait for you to print the pattern!!

  5. audio books – what a great idea ! then I can “read” and sew at the same time. That voice is sometimes so hard to ignore isn’t it? I think your buny is magical.

  6. I was busy discovering Purl on a visit to NY last month and wondered why one of your dolls was there. Since then I’ve found this blog, found the shop on etsy and made two Purl Girls when I was supposed to be making xmas gifts. I love your dolls. I love mine, too, shameless as I am. I’ve seen a couple of references to a cat pattern. Is this going to be available for purchase? Hope so.

  7. I love him! He definitely doesn’t need clothes, but I think he’d look good with a necktie or a scarf or something. I love your choice of fabric for him!

  8. it’s the perfectly sculpted haunches that move into those adorable little feet. I bet any outfit that revealed his hawt lower-half would work successfully. ;~)

~ hb33, who has not sexualized your bunny at all, really she hasn’t ~
