the best for last

This is the last fox for now. Is it unkind for me to tell you how much fun I had making him? Yep. I really got into all the details on this one.

First, there is his brief case.

I usually put little trinkets into the bags and don’t show you but this is too much fun. Thanks Melissa for encouraging me to make some tiny little books.

It clips onto his paw-

And, a pipe.

I was walking home from the library yesterday, thinking about how my little fox professor needed a pipe and how was I going to make one? Then, I got it- Make it on a pin!

An inside peek-

and a close-up of his pin-on tie-

Toni, in the comments for the first Professor, suggested leather elbow patches… Well, of course he needs leather elbow patches!

And here he is!

Love Him!

I am busy getting ready for Renegade Brooklyn in just a few short weeks. Because of that, I will not be posting much to my Etsy shop until mid-June.

  1. Clearly an academic . . . probably in the humanities, not the sciences . . . perhaps he’s Monsieur Renard of the French Department?

  2. I know this fox! Think I may even be related to him… he’s so much the absent-minded professor that he’s forgotten to put his (aherm) pants on! Yep. You nailed him, Mimi. Love the little attachment secrets there too: your hooks & pins. Excellent stuff.

  3. PS I sometimes find it hard to appreciate just how delicate and minute your work is. Can you maybe put in something for scale now and then? – just for extra Oohs and Aaahs here. ;)

  4. Dear Mimi,
Your Professor Fox is quite wonderful. The jacket lining is very fine and elbow patches just the complete touch. Your dolls are deceptively simple, but paradoxically full of detail.

  5. Oh I love him and all his little details! The bag and pipe are my favorite – you do such a beautiful job with the tiny stuff!! :)

  6. Mimi,

He’s pretty damn adorable! He’s got quite a lot of character and I can tell you had fun playing. Great solution to the pipe dilemma. :)

  7. The pipe is truly inspired! Great solution. All of his accessories are wonderful and I’m in love with the lining of his jacket.

  8. Gorgeous! I can’t say in my poor english how I admire your wonderful job!

  9. You kill me. That pin pipe – oh my. Absolutely brilliant, down to the last detail. And I wish I had him as a professor, truly.

  10. your attention to detail is amazing! it’s always the little things that make it so special with dolls. all the accessories! I love it! you are such an inspiration!

  11. GAH! the little elbow patches! I’m loving it. hehe. This is oddly exciting for me. haha.
