  1. Love your video.
Wish my art school had offered a major in Crafts.
Ended up in Children’s Book Illustration, doing crafty things on the side.
But I am always drawn to crafts.
I adore and am inspired by your gorgeous and witty dolls.

    Many Thanks.

  2. This is wonderful, Mimi! What a great look into your process and art. And how exciting was it to see “my” baby at the end of the video!! Congratulations!

  3. Mimi – I’ve been following your blog for a good long while now, and I just wanted to say that Handmade Portrait video is such a treat. You are so wonderfully talented and obviously love what you do, and I think that really comes through in your creations. Cheers!

  4. Mimi, you are so amazing! And now I got to hear your voice – touche! I was so excited to see what I thought was a sliver of my tattooed man and then lo and behold – there he was in all his glory, side by side with his tattooed brethren. I was watching the movie on my laptop with my 17 year old and 3 year old looking on, when I saw him, I cried out “That’s ours! We have that one!” Completely ridiculous behavior.

Mazel tov Mimi! It is wonderful. I so enjoyed “hearing” you talk about your work and “seeing” your process. It added a whole new dimension to my blog-knowledge of you. I also got such a thrill seeing seeing your earlier work. AND hearing you talk about your mother. AND seeing all the photos of you! Love, love, love.

  5. Thank you for your story. I am about your age, sitting in a desk, managing staff to do creative work. I am not sure what happened. You are living and doing what I wish I could. You are an inspiration! I love dolls! I love your dolls. I love seeing that you are doing what you love. Now that I have found your site, I will visit often.

  6. How wonderful to see how far you’ve come on your journey Mimi! I love how you talk about how you’ve collected all these bits all your life and now they are finding their purpose. And your definition of art? LOVE it! How true!
    Congrats on all your success!

  8. You are an amazing woman. I love the tiny coats, handbags, itty bitty buttons, etc…. your attention to detail just blows me away. Everything that you make is so original and beautiful. You are the Picasso of dolls.

    p.s. I can’t throw anything away too! ;-)

  9. Your work is so amazing. I’m so in love with all of your dolls. So original and wonderful. / Ellen in Sweden

  10. This is an amazing insight to your creative process and I am throughly inspired by your enthusiasm and your wonderfully whimsical studio. Your work is beautifully rich, textural and detailed…it is obvious that you have found your calling in Life and are on the right path. If you had book out, I’d be first in line to buy it!

  12. Mimi, I am a long time blogreader who finds your work so inspirational. And now to see your space! What a treat. You’re a great storyteller. Your passion for what you do really shines through. Can I confess I watch this Handmade Portrait at least once a month! So inspiring. Happy New Year to you! I often imagine myself living in one of your tiny world teacups. I’ll never look at teacups the same way again!
