She is made from a reclaimed knit sweater. The foxes I make from knits always look rounder and younger to me.
She has a toy owl and a bag to carry it in.
Do you know what she is standing in? Next Spring’s foxgloves!
She has all the soft fabrics! Her dress is made of baby corduroy and the jacket is flannel.
This photo is a bit over-exposed but you can really see the flannel design. Isn’t it pretty?
Yes, we got some snow. And then some rain. And then it froze, which makes shoveling difficult. It’s a good day to work at home.
She is now in my etsy shop.
Well it used to be anyway.
I finally admitted to myself that my nice old linen jacket was looking bedraggled and didn’t really fit right any more. And one of the buttons had broken. It was time to recycle it. I think it makes a pretty great little fox jacket!
I am imagining that the squarer eye shape looks a little like glasses.
I love the bunny fabric. I bought it in San Francisco this past summer.
Here is what is hiding in her school bag-
She has a little pocket hanky- a scrap from one of my Dad’s old shirts.
The dress closes with a snap in the back-
She is a fancy fox!
She is wearing a dress made from a piece of Liberty fabric that I bought at Liberty’s in London, probably in 1999. I am so happy to have projects where I actually use these special fabrics that I’ve been saving for so long.
She is wearing a silk ribbon bow, attached with a safety pin so it is removable.
I pulled out some beads for this project. They had been safely hidden away in the attic. Getting them out might be a mistake. Who knows where I will end up if I go down the bead path!
Here is a close-up of the sweater- I wanted the closures to be mostly invisible.
The skirt closes in the back with a snap.
And today was the last day for my intern Tori- Good-bye! Thanks for all your help!
Tomorrow is my Tiny World Workshop which means there will be a break in fox production. I need to focus on the Tiny Worlds for a few days. Hopefully I will get these girls up on Etsy this weekend. They will be $140 each.
One finished so far-
I love this Cloud9 Organic cotton– a perfect fox skirt print.
I cannot think of the right word to describe the color of her coat- a yellowish-green. Too yellow for Lime or Avacado. Kind of light olive but not really. Help!
She has a very dark red shawl that closes with a glass shoe button. The buttons on the coat are some that I’ve been saving for a long time- just waiting for the right project. Her bag is dark brown wool felt. I love my wool felt.
Here is all her stuff and the rest of her dress-
and the backs-
btw- I bought my Cloud9 fabric last week when we had the Crafty Biz meet-up at Gather Here in Cambridge. What a fun venue! There is tons of gorgeous fabrics, great books that I’ve only seen online so I got to browse them in person, embroidery floss not displayed in the darkest corner of the store (why does every other store do that!), and tons of other stuff that I am not quite so interested in, like yarn and classes and, and, and… so much! See Kerry’s fantastic photos and description here.
And now there is a pair-
and she is very well out-fitted!
She has an argyle tail.
I wanted to make her all foresty and also well dressed.
The pinafore is removable with snaps.
Her bag closes with a string wrapped button.
Getting the colors just right can be very frustrating and doesn’t seem possible with my level of technical skills. This girl is made from the same sweater as this owl. It is not the same color as the boy fox- she is more of a red orange. The jacket is olive, the scarf, a warm medium brown and the purse is an ochre yellow color. Each photo seems to get some right but never everything!
