He has it all- gorgeous dark red hair and skeletons!

I tried to do a macrame sort of knot for his belt, but it doesn’t show now that it is sewed down.

I make their eyes the color that I imagine the water they swim in.
So this fellow is definitely a cold water merman. His tattoos are mostly ships and then a few palms.
An antique shell button and some star beads.
Hair close-up-
A green merman with aqua eyes-
And a wave in his hair!
He has narwhal tattoos and an anchor button.
Hurray! A new Merman!
Here he is, lounging around on my porch.
How could I resist this perfect tattoo fabric. He has a sea glass button.
It feels good to finish something again!
He is browner than the above picture shows. I hope it is clearer in the other photos.
An epic nautical battle on his chest and arms, and a beaded belt.
Here is a close-up of the back of his hair-
There is going to be 3 blue ones in all, in case you were wondering. That was how many were in my already sewed up pile and need to be finished.
When I started working on this fellow, I was thinking he looked like a fancy Miami Beach Merman with his floral tail and coral-patterned ferns. I tried out some pinky-purple hair but it just wasn’t working for me. In the end, I choose some icy-green and it turned him into a much more serious fellow. He is is obviously from the warmer climes!
His tail is made of vintage (mid-70’s?) Laura Ashley fabric. And yes, I have had the fabric in my stash since it was new!
My photos were not showing the tail as blue-green so I tried to adjust to make it more accurate. This is a little better?
I have had a few requests for a red-haired merman so I hope whoever wanted one, see this! I’ve gone back through comments and messages but can not find what I am looking for.
He has silver-y green eyes.
Octopus on his chest and arms.
Stitching and belt on rick rack-
And fabric that looks like it would be excellent water-y camouflage for his fins and tail.
Back view of his hair-
I am planning to work on tattooed people for a while- probably up to the New Year. I have a lot already dyed and sewed up so now I get to focus on the fun part!
First up is some Mermen.
His very light hair didn’t show up very well in the photos. Here is a view from the other side.
Kelp on his chest and arms and a sea glass button. I picked a very dark variegated thread to embroider onto the rick rack- it plays on the dark red-purple and black of the fins..
This is the last merman for now. It has been a big relief to finish some pieces!
Silvery eyes and seaweed hair.
There are 3 of these mermen available and I will be putting them into my etsy shop today.
I am having fun trying out all these different color combinations.
His hair is a dark purple-red cross-hatch. And he has grey-green eyes.
Most of the decorative kanji on his arms runs down along the sides.
He has a fish button- I have had this button forever, like maybe 40 years! I have finally found the perfect use for it.
