Yes, I am completely snowed under. It is impossible to describe how awful it is because really, it looks kinda pretty, right?

But we are all dealing with freezing cold temps, ice dams and leaking roofs, terrible roads and sidewalks, interspersed with perfect ones like this (ours, thank you Ben!). No parking anywhere, traffic jams, broken down mass transit. Giant snowdrifts that make every corner, whether you are driving or walking across the street, a potentially deadly blind spot. Coming up next, flooding. Everybody is stressed and cranky. I can’t wait until spring but it is going to be a while yet.

But, I am very thankful that I work at home. And I have gotten some things done. I have 2 babies to show you (another tomorrow), that I put together in December but never got around to finishing. Hello Baby!

This kind of applique is where my lousy dyeing skills are actually an asset. I love how the uneven color makes the pieces so much more interesting.

I haven’t made these in a long time- the last ones were January 2013! It is great to be back.

I’m trying to get back to some sewing time but it’s been difficult. I have a ton of computer nonsense calling to me. Sigh- the never-ending distraction. But, I have 2 more samples that needed to be finished for the Swaddled Baby pattern so I HAD to go to the studio, right?!

That was the real incentive for getting the studio all cleaned up. As always, I work well with a deadline! It’s fun to see my studio through the eyes of the photographer. I can’t wait to see the results.

I’m hoping I’ll be back here a lot more this month. I’m also trying to train myself to post more photos on Twitter and Facebook. Winter is so isolating and all the social media becomes more important to make me feel connected. See you soon!

sometime in the next month I will be making a bunch of new babies. I need to make a pattern with several variations because I am hoping to teach a class in mid-January. Eeps! I’m committed now!
