gift suggestions!

Here are some ideas that don’t have to be wrapped!

How about the Sweet Paul/ Makerie Retreat in NYC this coming March. I’ll be making owls and I can not wait!

#130, #131- 2013

Or maybe you are more of a country person. How about the 2nd Art Retreat Camp in New Hampshire next August? I will be doing Tiny World pin cushions and a few other little fun projects. Here is a video for a little taste of summer.

And maybe it isn’t a retreat you are thinking of. How about a little bit of Art? I am showing one piece in a show at Art Stream- Off The Grid. All the Art is 6″ x 6″ and all available through their online shop.

I am going to try to get my act together and write up a list of recommendations for products that I love and maybe you might too. Let’s see if I manage to find the time!

little girl fox

She has all the soft fabrics! Her dress is made of baby corduroy and the jacket is flannel.

This photo is a bit over-exposed but you can really see the flannel design. Isn’t it pretty?

Yes, we got some snow. And then some rain. And then it froze, which makes shoveling difficult. It’s a good day to work at home.

She is now in my etsy shop.

man in a kilt

This is a first for me- a kilt. That means pleats. Always fun to do a little research.

The kilt is removable with buttons and a hook on the inside of the waist.

12:11:mankilt 3

And I KNOW you are all wondering what is under the kilt. Well, Spoiler Alert!!!

12:11:mankilt 6

Sorry for the terrible picture. I was putting this post together and realized that I’d forgotten to take a kilt-off photo. I took this one with artificial light and it’s pretty bad. But, you needed to see, right?

The reason (or inspiration) for the kilt was that I didn’t like how he looked in just his shorts. The toile fabric had more stretch than the cotton I used for his pants and once I stuffed him, I thought it looked oddly bulgy in places. So, inspiration hit! Honestly, that is really how it works.

12:5:fox boy 3

This was a fun little guy to make. He has a two-toned corduroy jacket, a bright blue backpack, and a red cashmere scarf. None of that would be good for camouflage in the forest but I love the bright colors!

And a striped sweater vest under his jacket.

all the rest of the tiny worlds

So, all these Tiny Worlds? I’ve been making them all for the Holiday window of Gather Here, my favorite local fabric/yarn store. We set it up this morning.

12:1:tw windowI will go back when it isn’t raining and there is no glare on the glass so I can post better shots of the finished window. Here are the last of the tiny worlds that I made for it.

And then I tried out some new ideas! A castle in a gold tea cup-

This one has the garden I’ve always wanted. It was a challenge to photograph all the topiary.

And lastly, I stayed up late last night to finish this one. That meant that with the rain this morning, there was no way to take a good picture. But, here it is in the window, a tiny town on a hill!
