I had so much fun putting these fabrics together!
The hair on her head is wool ribbing, the braids are wool roving.
Here she is, keeping me company in my studio.
I am having so much fun dressing these girls. This awesome girl has a side-buttoning skirt made from scraps from a shirt I made a few years ago. Her shirt is a Liberty lawn and her cardigan is made from a repurposed thrifted sweater.
Her hair made from a wool knit (another repurposed thrifted sweater).
And silk ribbons for a little fancy.
This girl has got it all together and she is off to do her thing. Which happens to maybe? involve a sketch book and pencil that is in her backpack.
A little bit closer-
Here she is with her things- I took her shirt off so you can see the top part of her “underwear”.
The shirt buttons up the front but it can be hard to see.
These little girls are my most labor-intensive dolls. January is a good time to get back to them, when all the Holiday madness is finished and the cold weather keeps me in the house. This first little one has a lovely double-gauze dress with Heather Ross illustration- Unicorns! ♥
Her sweater is a soft angora blend. Her hair is cashmere knit.
The bottom section is sweater ribbing.
She is 19″ tall (48cm). Her body is all wool. This is how the girls look before dressing- they have sewed on underwear, socks, and shoes.
I went through all the photos today. I already knew the total- 134 dolls, but it is a whole different thing to see them all together.
By the time I finished making dolls for the year, I’d made-
21 foxes and 7 pugs-
11 Owls and 13 Kitties-
7 Lumberjacks, 6 Mermen, and 32 Tattooed Men-
7 Babies and 8 Tattooed Ladies-
And 22 Fresh Fish pillows-
In addition, I made 20 Tiny World Pincushions.
I was surprised to see how close I was to last year with only a slightly different mix. Onward into the new year!
