one more summer girl fox

I know summer is coming to an end but I can’t let it go yet.

I’d make her a heavy sweater but it just didn’t seem right.

She has a bright, pretty skirt made from a Lizzy House fabric.

And a shirt made from handkerchief linen. Well, actually made from a handkerchief. I added a little line of lace at the neckline. And a spider-webby shawl in case there are cool breezes.

A wool felt purse-

first day of school fox

I imagine this little fox girl is starting her first day of kindergarten.

I was thinking about this photograph when I designed the clothes- that is me on the left.

I grew up in an era where little girls wore dresses to school- even Nursery School and kindergarten. We did not carry backpacks like this little fox though. She got all her supplies ready- 2 notebooks, a penny for lunch and a pencil.

She is wearing skirt and shirt, both made from some more of my Heather Ross stash. I’ve been saving the gnomes for something special.

Her jacket is super-soft corduroy.

yellow girl dog

I brought 3 dog dolls out to San Francisco and they were all grabbed up in the first few hours. That inspired me to start in on the pile that I had cut out last spring but had never sewed up. Fun, fun, fun!

here comes the …

Bride and Groom!

I know I usually have a bunch of photos, but not today. I have a brand new computer (Yeah!) but there is always a learning curve. I can’t figure out how to make the new IPhoto do what I knew how to do in the old one (Boo). And, I am simply too busy with the show prep to spend a few hours on it. So, later.

But, just so you know, his vest matches her dress. A perfect couple.

last girl for now

I’m so proud of myself for finishing up this last sweet girl before the end of February. Of course I did have one extra day- thank you Leap Year! No more girls waiting to be finished. Um, except for the tattooed girls which I will get to soon, I am promising them.

I pulled out all the silk ribbon and also some cotton lace.

A big silk bow on the back of the dress and one on her head too.

I pulled out all my fancy buttons to pick just the right one for her throat. It took me an hour. And that was after I’d sewed on  a silk bow and then nixed it.

The dress fabric is part of the original stash of wools I got from my Mom’s attic.

She has silk ribbon laces- very fancy!

red-haired girl

Some of these girls have been waiting a very long time to get finished up. It is making me very happy to bring them to life.

I wouldn’t mind a cashmere dress like that- soooo soft!

It is nice to have somewhere to use those special little one-of buttons.

She was suppose to be part of the forest girl series but never made it into the group.

I’m getting tired/bored of taking photos of the dolls in my yard. Today I wandered a bit farther and photographed her in the local graveyard.

Nicole wrote up a super nice blurb about me here. Thanks Nicole! I am so happy to be part of the show.

a summer girl fox

I love this dress-

I know I would have wanted one like it when I was little.

This fox is definitely not dressed for camouflage. I love the bright colors in this plaid. I tried to pick up some of them in the sweater and her purse.

This is the last fox for now. I will continue to work on my goal of finishing up the mountain of partially finished dolls in my studio. I’m not sure what it’ll be next…
