You know I am getting ready for a show. Shows are a place to introduce new people to my art but they are also expensive. So, I try to have a range of dolls to show people what I do, and enough work available for sale to make the endeavor financially sound. That is why I have been working like a crazy woman since the beginning of the year! I have to admit that my brain is getting tired and I sometimes feel as if my creative well has run dry. What do I do then? I go back and look at my old favorites. I work on a new version, thinking about what it was that made it a favorite. It works every time!
San Francisco, Here I Come!
In 2 weeks, I will be all set up and in my booth in San Francisco- phew! Right now I am running around like crazy, trying to get everything finished and organized. It would be wonderful to meet some of my blog readers and/or customers. Here is all the info if you want to come.

Traditional toiles can be so much fun to work with. I love finding the details and making them the focal point of one of my people. We had a sofa with toile slipcovers when I was a kid. I remember my mom pointing out the scenes but all I saw was a mass of red and white. I think I was visually overwhelmed.

Fox Girl, Vintage Liberty Dress
Sometimes the hardest things about a blog post is figuring out a title!
This sweet plaid fox girl is wearing a cashmere sweater and a dress made from Liberty lawn. I have no idea how old the fabric is but I’d guess 60’s or 70’s. It was from my Mom’s stash and I have a good amount of it on a roll, labeled with her handwriting.
Here is a close-up of her purse-
I am at the stage of my sewing where I am trying to build inventory with some of all the kinds of pieces I make, to take to San Francisco. That often means more jumping around than usual. So, even though I have 4 more foxes almost finished, sitting on my desk, I am moving on to the next thing and I will get back to them later. My studio is a CRAZY mess!
